It was enough that those present on the plain agreed to the idea of a council of priests. Specific arrangements could be made without further consultation. Most Luxalians would be unaware of any changes until much later, and none would wish to interfere. Managing the lives of others was something best left to the priests, who were welcome to that sort of work if they wanted it.
The crowd dispersed shortly after Landro and Lisi had carried Ruyotu out of sight. The Luxalians went back to their jobs. Trabiaq headed for the palace to inform the staff of the changes that were being made. Perens walked home with the Woodland hunters to tell Alya about her new role. Only Qama and Torleos remained.
“Is it over?” Qama asked.
“Not yet. There is still a lot to be done. But the Woodlands are safe now.”
“That is all I hoped for.”
“I know it was agreed that we are all heroes, but you are the most heroic of us all.”
“Why?”
